I know I’ve been pumping out a lot of LONG articles lately. I apologize. I just feel like God has shown me a lot of amazing things over the last couple of weeks and I couldn’t help but share where God has carried my thoughts. To me, it only confirms that the Lord is hastening His work, the windows of heaven are open, and things are happening faster than we could imagine. This one will be shorter, I promise. I just thought I’d throw out a spiritual perspective of the pandemic that maybe some of you haven’t considered.
One of the primary purposes for us existing in this world is to learn lessons that teach each us how to lean into the light and resist evil at every turn, for even the smallest of disturbances introduced into the perfect nature of our future resurrected bodies would begin a chain reaction that would ultimately lead to our death. This must be so, for a perfect harmony is only maintained as long as three or more forces continually work together to generate that harmony. An orchestra, for example, can have no harmony with only a conductor and one instrument; likewise, two or more instruments are lost without a conductor. Ask any conductor of a symphony what happens if a single note is missed during a performance. It doesn’t matter if they return to perfect harmony for the remainder, the whole performance is considered flawed; imperfect. Or better yet, ask Adam about the consequences of lusting after even the most mundane of all senses: taste. And while Adam still almost lived to the measure of his creation (a thousand years), his sin, and any others he might have made, reduced his promise down to 930 years instead.
With this understanding in mind, I wondered what lessons God intended for us to learn from this pandemic. And while there are always nearly limitless lessons that can be learned from any given experience, my mind was brought into two lessons that stood out above all others…two lessons that every single person on this planet would be able to encounter thanks to this pandemic. Unfortunately, only one can be learned and not the other. These complimentary and opposing lessons are (1) to trust or (2) to not trust.
Put your faith and trust in your leaders and their advisors, believing completely that they know what’s best for you and that by obeying their words you will continue to live joyously in the kingdom you are living in; or
Never let anyone put something into your body — via any sense, which also includes sight (the things we look at), sound (the things we listen to), etc… — that you have already determined would be harmful to your body, and by rejecting the words of those that are evil or that promote evil you will continue to live joyously in the kingdom you are living in.
Notice, if you adhere to (1) you cannot adhere to (2), but if you do (2) you cannot do (1). That being said, you can learn a limited form of both (viz. get the first shot then refuse the rest, or resist initially but get drawn in later), but in doing so neither lesson was perfectly learned. Like the conductor at the beginning, you’d have two imperfect performances, which would mean neither was completely learned and you must be tried again, unless you become content with your station. And if you choose to still strive for perfection and allow yourself to endure those trials again, at least you’ll have your knowledge of prior events to hopefully help you make the right decisions the next time.
But be ware. Our time is short, and this life is the only time we have to prepare to meet God. While we may receive unlimited chances in this life to refine and perfect ourselves (thanks to the Atonement), our life itself has a duration, and it is but a blink of an eye. Do not procrastinate the day of your repentance!
For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.
I am filled with the power of Christ. While I may be a mortal man, who often hears the wrong voice, I know that at times, and on occasions, God succeeds at filling my frame and using me as His tool in these last days to speak the words He needs delivered. I pray that each of you might be lifted upon the wings of God and see things as He intended. He loves us all and wants us all to return home to Him, and He has provided (or allowed) these trials for our benefit, so we can learn all we were meant to learn. And for that, I am thankful even for this dark time. Do not suppose that all trials come from Satan, for a vast majority are from God. And while it is undoubtedly important to try our best to learn every lesson God intended, fear not if you fall or fail to learn it all, for Christ has already saved each of us. Put your faith in Him, who is the ONLY one that can save. There is a world beyond this one, and our journey is not even close to over. I look forward to charging forward with each of you, beside and in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
